Tunis is one of the oldest breeds indigenous to the United States. Though usually raised for meat, they have creamy colored fleeces that spins into a lustrous long-stapled yarn that is nice for dyeing.
Wellspring Farm is located in Burnsville in western North Carolina is a fiber animal farm raising llamas, Jacob Sheep, Merino, Tunis and Tunis/corriedale sheep for their fiber. Products produced on the farm include rovings, yarns and felted, knit and crocheted fiber items and breeding stock. They offer farm tours, workshops, and lessons in spinning and fiber arts.
